When The Blind Side premiered in 2009, the heartwarming story captured millions of people all around the globe - especially because it was based off true events.

But now, the wholesome image that the film created has been shattered by the news that the man who inspired the beloved flick, Michael Oher, claimed that he was tricked by the Tuohy family into signing a document that prevented him from making any money from it - while they raked in millions of dollars.

1200x1200.jpgThe movie, which won Sandra Bullock the Academy Award for Best Actress and went on to gross $309 million, followed Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy - a well-off white couple who took in a homeless black teen, and helped turn him into one of the most successful NFL stars on the planet.

For years, it was believed that what happened in real life was just as touching as what happened on the big screen - but now, the football legend has claimed that much of it was a lie.

The man who inspired The Blind Side, Michael Oher, 37, has filed a lawsuit alleging that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy didn't allow him to make any movie from the movie

It's no secret that the Tuohys have enjoyed a very lavish lifestyle since the success of the movie - and they loves to flaunt it on their social media accounts for the entire world to see

As Michael accuses the Tuohys (seen together in 2008) of lying and tricking him into not profiting off of the film, FEMAIL lifted a lid on the family's very-sumptuous way of living

In an explosive new lawsuit, Michael, 37, alleged that Sean and Leigh Anne, both 63, never actually adopted him - despite that being a major plot point in the film - but instead, had him sign something that named them as his conservators, which meant they could legally act upon business interests in his name.

He slammed the couple for using his story to acquire wealth and claimed they didn't give him a cent of the profits they made from the $300 million box office smash hit.

They have denied his allegations, with Sean claiming to Daily Memphian that they're 'devastated' by even the thought of 'making money off any of their kids' - but even so, Michael's claims certainly act as a devastating twist to the inspirational story.

It's no secret that the Tuohys have enjoyed a very lavish lifestyle since the success of the movie - and Leigh Anne loves to flaunt it on her social media account for the entire world to see.

She and Sean spend their days visiting Disney World, driving expensive sports cars, enjoying dinner parties, attending VIP sports events, sunbathing on the beach, and flying off on glamorous trips - getting there via private jet, of course.

They also own an expansive real estate portfolio and have racked up a net worth of $75 million.

In addition, their two kids have also enjoyed many of the luxurious perks that have come with being a part of the family that inspired the multi-million dollar movie.

As Michael accuses the Tuohys of lying and tricking him into not profiting off of the film, FEMAIL went ahead and lifted a lid on the family's very-sumptuous way of living.

According to the newly filed lawsuit, the Tuohys struck a deal with producers wherein they - inclusive of their two children - would receive royalties from the film, specifically $225,000 each in addition to 2.5 per cent of the 'defined net proceeds.' A still from the movie is seen

Over the years, however, they sold most of them, and as of 2020, they had parted ways with all but 11.

In addition to the money they made, it's no secret that the success of the movie helped boost Leigh Anne and Sean's careers.

Leigh Anne embarked on a press tour around the globe after the film premiered in 2009, where she spoke out about how others 'can make a difference' - and credited herself and the movie with boosting the number of kids who were adopted that year.

'As long as there's people that want to listen, I'm going to talk about it,' she told ESPN at the time.

'Adoption is up. Whether The Blind Side contributed to that or not, we can't know for sure, but we're going to take full credit for it.'

She bragged to the outlet hat the family had received 'numerous reality TV offers' following the success of The Blind Side, but she insisted that they had turned them all down.

Despite stating that she didn't want to be a part of the reality TV world, Leigh Anne went on to launch her own show, called the Family Addition with Leigh Anne Tuohy in 2013.

It went on one for one season, and followed her as she helped 'families who are about to adopt children they've been fostering.' She and Sean also appeared in an episode of Below Deck in 2017.

As of 2022, it was reported that Leigh Ann's net worth was a whopping $50 million, while Sean's was $25 million.
